Who Can Participate in Teen Mission?
Teens who have completed 6th grade through HS Seniors:
These are our core group of students which we call "participants"! You'll stay Sunday night through Saturday morning for all activities throughout the week. Get ready for an awesome ride including work site days, games and activities, evening worship services, "reward day", community day, and so much more!
Apply here.
Fifth graders and older:
Anyone who has completed the 5th grade and older can join us for a "mini-TMJC" that we call SOLO day. (Sample One Live Operation) Don't worry though. You won't be on your own. We'll assign an experienced participant or junior staff to each of you to make sure you learn all you can about Teen Mission without getting overwhelmed. You'll join us Tuesday morning for breakfast and stay for a full 24 hour day until breakfast on Wednesday when you'll be picked up. For more information, visit our SOLO page here.
Teens who have been with us for several years and demonstrate excellent character, willingness, and leadership abilities:
Teens who meet these qualifications have the opportunity to apply to be Junior Staff in early spring. If you believe you meet these qualifications and would like to apply, please fill out our contact form or application and reach out to Jody Burton for more information. Applications are due April 1st!
Adults:
We have many opportunities for adults to serve with us including, but not limited to:
-
Skilled Help: carpenters, landscapers, painters, and anyone who has a skill they believe would helpful during our community service projects
-
Daytime and Evening Daycare: assist our team in caring for the children of our family heads who stay with the teens all week long
-
Food Preparation: we need help every morning for breakfast and evening for dinner in feeding all of these hungry teens!
-
And more! Just fill out our contact form for more information.
What to Expect
-
Participants: 6th grade graduates to High School Seniors
-
One week of the year: 24 hours a day
-
Monday-Wednesday mornings and afternoons, participants work with adults and skilled adults to repair, paint, build, garden & clean homes for the disabled and elderly in our own community.
-
Evenings consist of free time, group game or pool time, showers, dinner, worship, family time, and sleep (Think huge room full of air mattresses and tired, happy teens)
-
Thursday is Reward Day! Sometimes we go to the lake and sometimes we stay local. But we always try to make sure that there are a variety of activities available including for those who want to just rest on their "day off".
-
Friday we host Community Day at Brookside Park. We provide a variety of activities completely free for the community from food and clothing drives to kids games and face painting. We also serve lunch, play uplifting music, and pray for our community.
All of this is at NO REQUIRED COST to the homeowners.
We are able to do this because of our year-round fundraising events, such as our annual Gala, chili cookoff, and more!
